Hi Everyone!! I haven't been around in a while because I have been ever so busy!! Sea World, my first ballet, sign language... where to begin??
Well, let's see... last weekend, mama and dada brought me to Sea World. I generally had a great time, but I got an awful case of stranger fear! As soon as we got there, some stranger lady was in my face talking to me and checking me out like she'd known me forever. Mama called her Aunt Charmaine. I was really frightened! I don't think I ever saw her before, but mama said we actually lived with her and Uncle Ken for a while. Well, anyway, she held me and then I was even more frightened and wouldn't calm down til mama took me. We eventually got to be buddies, but I still wouldn't let her hold me! Maybe next time...
My favorite part of Sea World was the pet show! Mama held me and we stood up front in the aisle so I'd be able to see really well. There were so many kitties and doggies and some other animals too. Well, you all know how much I love doggies!! I smiled my biggest grin at them! It was such a great show - even mama and dada said so.
Later that same evening we went to see Ballet Magnificat whom mama did some training with when she was younger. I enjoyed watching some of it in the beginning when the dancers had pretty bright red dresses on, but then I got sleepy and went nite-nite - and then woke up crying really loud right in the middle of it!! Fortunately, mama had me right inside the back door and was able to get me out very quickly. And just so you know, I wasn't the only baby there or the noisiest for that matter. I was generally very good! Yeah for me. :-)
So, guess what I can do now?? You will never guess.... I'm getting ever so smart and can do some baby signs now. Yup! Did my very first one last night in the middle of the night around 2:30. Mama had decided when I was stirring for a drink that I needed a diaper change. While the light was on she asked me if I'd like some mama-milk and did the sign for it which is opening and closing the hand like you are milking a cow. I did the sign right back to her!! This morning I did it again - and just to be extra smart, I made my hand go towards hers and eat it up like pac-man. I can also do the sign for "doggie" and am beginning to get the sign for "please" which we use to mean "please help me." "Doggie" is sticking out the tongue and panting like a doggie. I just make a funny sound in my throat for it. "Please" is tapping your chest. I haven't quite got it, but when I'm frustrated and mama shows me the sign I calm right down and start to hit myself. Mama says it's kinda funny, but that I'll get it right soon.
I also can imitate funny sounds that mama and dada make and I'm almost crawling too! (And mama thought I'd never do that! Ha ha! I have her fooled!)
Well, as you can see i have been very busy! I'm sure I'll think of more to add soon, but right now it's my bed time and I'm getting tired of playing pat-a-cake on dada's hands while mama types for me (I just can't understand why she won't let me type this - I really do love the keyboard!!) Oh well, nite nite and more to come soon. ~ Helena Grace
