At the petting zoo

Mama and Dada brought me to a farm with a little petting zoo! Some lady who was visiting there thought I would be afraid of the goats. How silly! I really love critters!! 

Identification 101

I showed Mama where the goat's nostril was. If you ask me where your's is I will put my finger right up your nose! I know lots of body parts...

Mama and Dada showed me how to put my palm out with corn placed on it so the goat wouldn't nibble my fingers.

I checked out the goats ears while she checked out the flower on my sweater. She almost ate the bow in my hair too! Silly little goat!!

A change of heart about shoes

For those of you who have been following my blog for some time now, you will remember that back in the winter I was not so fond of shoes. Well, I must say Mama was right and much to my Great-Grandma's delight, I now adore them. You see these little green Tiger shoes I have on? These and my yellow Pooh bear and pink Thumper ones are my favorites! Everywhere we go I stop and show them to complete strangers! I think that everyone should take the same pleasure in my shoes that I do. So I put my leg out in front, point my little toe and say "ah" until I get the appropriate comment. Sometimes people are a little slow and I have to use my signs to tell them it is a bunny or bear. Then we all get a nice smile! Who knew that shoes could be so delightful!? 

Mama's little helper

I really like to be mama and dada's helper. If they call to me "Helena, I need some help" I come striding into the room with a serious look on my face and my chest out! I know this means business! Some of my favorite things to help with are taking out the silverware from the dishwasher and putting it away in the tray, putting away my toys, giving the dog his treats and putting laundry into the washer or dryer - oh, and I really love to close the dryer door. Not sure why, but I have to at least attempt it in between every item Mama tries to put in there.

Anyway, the other day I found another way to help. Mama always straightens the pillows on the couch and makes them look pretty. So I decided I would help and when Mama came into the room she found our doggie Starbuck's bone shaped pillow toy propped neatly alongside the other pillow on the couch. She was so proud of me that she took this picture! (then said she needed to wash the pillow - not sure why...) ~ Helena 

Nite-nite time

I didn't take a nap the other day and I was sooo tired I fell asleep while eating my dinner!! Mama says this is quite remarkable (whatever that means) because I NEVER go to sleep other than in the car or bed.

Well, one night I figured out a good way to not have to go nite nite. Instead of nursing off to sleep like I usually do, I decided it would be fun to blow raspberries on Mama's belly! They were such good, big, loud ones that Dada busted out laughing and Mama wasn't far behind. Then Dada turned on the light and got hte video camera and we all had a grand laughing time. I got to stay up for about a whole extra hour too! Boy am I smart!

Well, I really am smart. Mama says so! When my teeth are huriting at night night time and I am fidgeting and tossing and turning and having trouble going to sleep, she asks me if I want the ow to go bye bye. I stop and look at her and she tells me that if I hold really still the night nights will come and chase the ows bye bye. So I immediately stop fidgeting and hold really still and soon the night nights come and do indeed chase the owes bye bye. If I start to get a little bit restless again, before falling asleep, Mama reminds me that I'm doing good and the night nights will be here really soon to chase the owes bye bye. This calms me right back down again. Mama said she was really surprised at how well I understood all of this. Gosh, I don't know if I should be insulted or pleased....

Yes, that is an onion I am tasting! And I liked it too! My Pop-Pop was very proud of me when he heard, so no, I am not silly!

Dada took this picture of me helping Mama to make chili. Mostly it's all on video because it was my first cooking experience. I helped mama to put all the diced up veggies into the crockpot and I helped to dump in the tomatoes and beans and spices too. My favorite part tho, was taste testing everything. I would take a little bite of everything before putting it into the pot. (Mama said it was ok since it was just for us). I managed to get a big bite of a green bean and I didn't like that so I promptly began to remove all the green beans from the pot, but Mama convinced me they would taste better once they were cooked. She was right. Later that night I had two helpings of our super duper veggie chile! Nummy nummy!!!

Do you see my mama cuddled up on the couch? She was cold. I wanted to be just like her so I got all cuddled up on my pillow with my blanket in hand. 

Preppy 'lil me...

Ok, can someone tell me what preppy means? Mama says I looked preppy here because I have on a little shirt dress and sweater and tights and all. But what is preppy? 

Dress up with the dog

Look at this! Don't you think my doggie looks so good in a hat? I really like to play with this little pink baseball cap because it's ez for me to take off and put on. And of course I have to share everything with the dog (even my food which ends up in it being taken away from me which I don't understand, but that's another story). So anyway, I thought he would look so dashing with my pink baseball cap to go with is handsome green gingham bandanna. What do you think? ~ Helena Grace

 

One of My Very Favorite Places

Hello Everyone!

These pictures are of me enjoying a beautiful late summer day at one of my very favorite parks. It is so fun!!! I wish you could come here with me!

Before we even get to the park I get all excited. I hear the music coming from the horsey ride and I start to squeal with delight and bounce up and down holding my make believe horsey reigns.

I love to watch the horses go up and down and around and to see the other kids riding them. Then it is my turn - finally! It's hard to wait my turn. I want to run right in and see the horses, but Mama says we must wait until the other children come out. I like to sit on the sleigh bench better than riding on the horses tho. Sometimes I get a little bit nervous after being on the horses for a while. But I can stand on the bench with Mama holding me and I can wave at Dada and watch the other children and pet the horses tail. Once the ride stops, Mama holds me up close to see the horse. I like to poke his eye and teeth.

After the horse ride is over, I run to see the ducks. They are everywhere and they aren't very afraid of me. I can get really close to them; I even touched some of them. One tried to nibble on my toes one time. They wont' hurt tho 'cause they dont' have teeth - my cousin told me that. She's six so she is a big girl and knows these things!

Sometimes I see squirels at the park too. I think they are so cute, but they are not very friendly. Not like me - I say hi to everyone. But when I run up to the squirrels to say hi, they run away bye bye and hide in a tree. I wish they would let me pet them!

Well, if you come to visit me, I will bring you to my favorite park! It's really a whole lot of fun! ~ Helena Grace
