Helena's classic Pooh critters are all on a high shelf in her bedroom. She particularly likes that Tigger looks like he is peeking down at her. This is what I heard from the next room last night as Helena was getting ready for bed...
Keep in mind the most animated, sugary sweet voice you can imagine...
"Hi Tigger. You so cute! You so cute Tigger! Hi! Hi! You so cute! Hi Tigger Boy!
Adorable!!

The County Fair
Last weekend we took Helena to a local county fair. We told her it had a carasol and other rides too. When we finally found the place (which took a while) Helena exclaimed with clapping of hands "Yeah! We at the fair! I sooooo excited!!! in the most animated little voice.
First we found the carasol which Helena enjoyed but which Joe and I found to be a great disappointment compared to a local one we usually enjoy. Next I brought Helena on a flying bumble bee ride that went in a circle and up and down. I was a bit uneasy that she would be frightened, but she loved it. Lastly, Joe convinced us to do the faris-wheel. Well, no convincing on Helena's part. She was all for it. I on the other hand don't like heights at all. So while Helena tried to stand on daddy's lap to see out, I looked at the floor. I didn't venture a look out til about the 3rd time around. Helena on the other hand, thought it great fun to be up higher than the tops of the trees.
Of course her favorite part of the fair were all the local horses, goats, sheep, chickens and other 4H animals. She also enjoyed a few minutes of the local kids talent show.
As soon as we left, before we were even back to the car, Helena exclaimed. "I want to go again." Only one time per year we told her. In case you haven't checked, county fairs have gotten rather expensive!!

Maple Trees and 'Merica's Flag
The view from our car window is less than optimal for Helena whose seat sits very low. But she takes advantage of what little view she has and on occasion points out some interesting things.
For example, the other day on the way to the parade, she looks out the window and says "Yook, that's maple tree! Sure enough, high on the hill stood a huge maple tree. She has a book all about maple trees and maple syrup, so that's how she recognized it. I am hoping that together we can learn a lot more tree types as soon as we move to our country home in a month.
Today while parked waiting for daddy, Helena looked up and said, "There 'Merica's Flag!" Again, she recognizes it from a4th of July book as well as from having a little one to wave at the 4th of July parade.

Phone and House
Guess I have been on the phone a little too much the last few months looking for a house to rent/buy. Helena just picked up the phone and in the midst of hushing me is saying "Hello, This Abecca [variation of last name]. I want .... the house (silence) Ok, just a minute.... Uh huh...."
I am LOL so hard right now!!
Thankfully we have found a wonderful country farmhouse in immaculate condition to rent (and God-willing buy in a few years). It has between 2 or 3 acres, a stream, a chicken coop, a little barn, flat and sloping yard and woods behind it. The house has a wonderful huge enclosed front porch surrounded by windows. One more month!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So yesterday after helping me make dinner I noticed that Helena was still in the kitchen standing on her chair at the kitchen counter.
"Helena" I called from the other room "Whatcha doing?"
"I thinkin bout new house" she replied.
I joined her in the other room "What are you thinking about it?" I asked, noticing her far off dreamy look as she gazed across the apt and out the front windows, leaning comfortably on the counter like an adult.
"New house have yittle kitchen and yiving woom" she stated.
So then we moved back to "toddler land" as I explained how we would bring our couch and rug and bookshelves and toys... to the new house for the new living room.

Helena's 2nd Birthday
Today Helena turned 2! Below are a few pictures of her birthday. I made her a crown to wear with an "H" embroidered on it. Each year she gets another "jewel" in her crown.
For her birthday she chose to wear her "pocket" dress. This is her favorite thing to wear due to the pockets in it. Pockets are great fun for 2 year old girls I guess.
We got Helena a pile of books, 2 puzzles, a few dress up things and her favorite... a little baby doll house doll and little wood potty. These were to complete the family and provide "facilities" to her farmer "yady" and farmer man dolls. She just *loves* that little wood potty. She had played with it quite a bit in the store so I figured it would be a hit. We also got her a little wood dump truck. I figured the farmer man might want to dump some little pinecones or something. Well, the use of it completely escapes her. She thinks the back makes a great bed for the baby. Or better yet, why not put the baby under the dump with the cab of the truck as a pillow!! LOL Maybe there is a reason most people don't buy vehicle toys for girls. Then again, we also found her sticking the baby dolls head in the toilet, for which it was a perfect fit. At least she is having fun and being creative with her new toys.
Happy Birthday Helena! We love you!

July 4th
Happy Belated 4th of July!! Hoping you all had a wonderful patriotic day. We have found that even the way America demonstrates her patriotism has changed. Gone are the days of my childhood when every town had their own little parade to celebrate. Both last year and this year we had to search hard to find a 4th of July parade to attend. But we have succeeded both times in finding a good one!
Amongst the many firetrucks, marching bands, soldiers and local scouts, this parade included what to Helena was a great highlight... a "sorsey pooping". LOL if you ask about the parade, she will tell you right away about the horse that left a big one in the street.
In our part of the country, we had a chilly and very wet fourth. It began to rain at the end of the parade, and that evening our fireworks were cancelled. We quickly checked online and drove to another town that had later ones.
After weeks of preparation on our part, Helena would tell you that fireworks "yike rumble-booms [thunder]. They go kshhhh [loud noise said with waving hands] and yook yike they come to get Heyna. But they can't hurt Henya. They just funny."
At 10:15 PM, we woke Helena from the back seat of the car whispering gently to her and asking if she wanted to stay "night night" or see the fireworks. "I see fireworks" she softly replied. So she viewed her first fireworks wrapped up in a jacket and cuddled like a baby in my arms, barely awake. She watched in quite awe and finally said to me "Heyna all done seeing fireworks now. We go home" so we left right before the finale. The next day she talked all about them!!

The Evolving Banana
For the longest time, Helena's way of saying banana has been to roll her tongue in and out of her mouth in a blu-u-blu-u sort of fashion. When she really wants a banana she will do this sound repeatedly. It's so cute and funny. But alas, an era has ended. The other night, in asking a friend for a banana, she paused to get it right and asked for an "anana". Daddy and I were so sad (in a silly way of course).
To make up for it, (maybe? ha ha) she has taken to calling her little princess wand that Grandpa and Pam got for her birthday a "froggy place". We have *no* idea why!
