Happy Birthday to Me!! First in a Series of Birthday Posts

Hi Everyone! Guess what?! I'm 1 year old now! I am so big! I had the best birthday ever with a fun party, guests to play with me, new toys and all sorts of fun things. Mama told me I have to list everything I got so I can see it again when I get big, so here goes:

Books, puzzles, beanie baby critters which I really love, pretty cards, money, sunsuits, little wood farm and picnic critters, a photo album w pics of me on the day I first said doggie, dress up clothes, magnets mama made me for the fridge so i can learn my colours and shapes, a wood shepherd and sheep play set, and a wood lawn mower with rainbow coloured spindles and jingle bells in it. I have been having lots of fun with everything this last week since my birthday!

Time to "Paw"ty

As you all know, I just adore doggies, so Mama and Dada had a doggie themed birthday party for me, complete with a pink doggie cake, doggie cookies and a doggie watermelon fruit cup. Mama even made Indigo and I cloth doggie bones to play with since she said we were too little to eat the cookies.

Birthday Treats to Eat

I had nummy birthday treats to eat, but I decided later I didn't like them so much after all.

Mama made me an applesauce spice cake for my birthday. It was nummy and relatively healthy with whole wheat flour and maple syrup instead of sugar - and of course all organic. She even used natural plant derived food colourings for the frosting!

Dada made really tasty strawberry icecream in the old-fashioned hand crank icecream maker.
Unfortunately, even tho I only had just a few bites of cake and a teensy scoop of icecream, I got a bad tummy ache and later on threw up. Mama says she thinks I am lactose intolerant. What does that mean? I hope it doesn't mean I will never get icecream again, because I sure liked it going down. Posted by Picasa

Guests

I had some wonderful guests at my first birthday! Mama made Indigo and I doggie ears to wear and Starbuck showed off his ears as well! In the first picture here you can see me wearing some of the dress up clothes that Mama made me. Mama says they are so I will "stop hijacking her underwear". What does that mean? I do like to wear underwear around my arms and neck, but now I have bright rainbow fuzzy fleece to wear instead.

Mmm....

Nummy nummy! I got to lick off a bit of the beaters! I'm never allowed anything with sugar so that was quite a tasty birthday morning treat!

Sweet Dada

My sweet Dada bought me some flowers and balloons for my first birthday party. He's the bestest Dada ever! I love you Dada!

My First Independence Day

Happy 4th of July (a bit late)

My Mama hasn't been doing too well in keeping up as my scribe on here. I will have to have a talk with her.

Well, I had a wonderful first 4th of July, a parade, a trip to the beach, a picnic with friends and a bit of independence of my own!

So first Mama told me we just had to go see something called a parade. I wasn't sure what that was. We almost didn't get to go to one because they are not held in every little town here in the south like they are up north. But Mama finally found one nearbye and we left very early to go.

It was very hot outside and Mama forgot my sunscreen (Dada couldn't come as he was far away in someplace called Sweden) so after getting ourselves an organic coconut to drink ( a big favorite of mine!) and a balloon we parked ourselves in the shade where I snacked on cheerios until suddenly Mama lifted me up to look. The parade was starting! I saw all sorts of cars, got to wave at lots of people and best of all saw a little driving airplane! It was lots of fun!

Later in the day we went to the beach and saw the space shuttle take off and then had a picnic with some really nice friends.

But most importantly of all was my new-found independence on Independence Day! Can you guess what I did? Right after the shuttle took off out of sight, I stood up on my own for a full minute or so. Yup! All by myself! Now how is that for the best celebration of Independence Day?! :) My Mama was so proud! She said it was better than any parade, space shuttle or fireworks!

My First Ponytails

Hi There! Don't I look just adorable? My best friend Indigo gave me little tiny rubber bands for my hair so Mama could put it in pony tails like Indigo wears hers. Now we look like little twins. I love you Indigo!

First Ballet Shoes

Greetings Everyone! I've settled it once and for all. I am not going to be a super model or a surfer or even a concert musician. I am going to be a prima ballerina.

Sometimes a single day decides one's destiny and I just know June 17th 2006 was such a day. Mama brought me to buy my first pair of ballet slippers. (Can you believe they actually make them bitty enough for my little piggy toes?) While at the store I got to try on this stunning ballet costume. Don't I just look absolutely divine?! I practiced dancing with myself in the mirror and stretching on the floor. You can see the joy on my face! Maybe someday I will be a principal dancer for a famous company and you can all come and watch me and give me a standing ovation and bring me flowers and then we will go out to dinner and I will give you my autograph and you will tell everyone how you knew me when I got my first ballet shoes and I will be embarrassed and.....( dreaming.... )

See you someday at Lincoln Center! ~ Helena Grace
