This morning we headed out to (amongst other things) look for a lamp for Helena's bedroom. (We didn't find one.) Helena informed me that she needed to have a clock too.
"What do you need a clock for?"
"So I can tell what time it is."
"But you have to know your numbers first."
"I do know my numbers."
"But you have to know what they look like."
"I do."
"No you don't."
"I do know my numbers mommy."
"OK, what time is it here?" pointing to the clock in the car...
Helena pauses for a brief second and then blurts out confidently "It's morning time."
Pretty smart! :)

Fox Hunt .... 11
Last, but not least, we found these hollow fruit things (no clue what they are) and a beautiful shiny white stone for her nature table. So, no fox, but it was still a productive walk! And I can't say how much I love to be in the woods on a cool, rainy day. Odd, I know. But it just smells so wonderful and the birds sing the most amazing, beautiful rainy day songs.
Fox Hunt... 10
This was the discovery that was most exciting to mommy... an authentic squirrel home, complete with front door and side window. Of course we had to stick the camera inside and take a picture to see what was up the tree also.
Helena informed me that the squirrels were coming home with us to our house. So long as they don't poop in it, I told her. She said that they could use her potty and she would clean up after them if they did poop.

A Fox Hunt and What We Found 2
Helena and I have also been talking lately about trying to find Christopher Robin and everyone else's houses in The 100 Acre Wood, which is what the woods behind us have come to be called. Helena was *so* excited to find real owl droppings below this tree and looked up to see if Owl was home. He was not.
A Fox Hunt and What We Did Find 1
Helena asked me yesterday morning upon awakening if we could maybe go in the woods and look for a fox. She said something to the affect of "Wouldn't it be very fun to hold a baby fox, Mommy?" I agreed that it would indeed be fun!! But then I explained that the mommy fox would bite us if we did. We talked about this for a while, and today we decided to go on a fox hunt just to see if we could even see a fox. My continual reminders that we would probably not find one didn't dampen her excitement one bit.
Well, as you can imagine, we didn't see a fox, but we did find a lot of other interesting things. These first pictures are of the first Squirrel Restaurant that we found. Obviously a restaurant as no one squirrel could possibly be such a piggy, we imagined.

A Song for the Heart
Today Helena said that birdies lived in bad trees.
"What's a bad tree?" I asked.
"It's a tree that a hawk lives in" she replied. "I want a hawk to eat a birdie."
"I wouldn't like that" I responded and explained that then we couldn't hear the pretty bird singing to us.
"Would it sing in the hawk's heart then?" Helena asked.

No!! I'm Not a Child of the 80's!!
Help! Mommy is having flashbacks to her childhood today. Help!! I mean the leggings and long shirt are ok with me and I added the beads myself. But what is up with the missing pony tail and please can I just put my socks back correctly!?
Ha ha!! Helena's outfit inspired me to some fun today. She was not too pleased with the pony and socks, however and they disappeared the moment our pictures were taken.

Soggy
Soggy is Helena's favorite word - at least when it comes to prayer. She has no clue what it means and I'm not sure where she even heard it.
"Jesus, thank you for this soggy day and thank you for my soggy mommy and my soggy daddy and thank you for a soggy doggy and soggy furniture...." She thinks it's really funny to call everything soggy when she prays.
At first I thought I should put a stop to it, but on second thought, I bet God finds it as cute and silly as I do. He takes delight in her thankfullness even amidst the childish silliness I think.

Morning Time Cuddles
As we had our morning time cuddles in bed this morning, I told Helena I'd missed them the last 2 days since either she or I had gotten up as soon as we had woken up.
Helena said "I didn't have any more cuddles left on my pillow. But Jesus and His angels came and gave me more. I had spilled the others. But Jesus angels picked them all up. "
