I Love to Learn!

Guess what? I am getting bigger! I am 10 and 1/2 months old now. Mama and Dada can hardly believe that tho I don't know why. Well, anyway, being 10 and 1/2 months old means I am so big and smart now. Maybe soon I will know everything!

The other day I bumped my head on the wall. Mama grabbed me and told me I need to be gentle with my head. So after a few seconds, I crawled back to the wall, knelt up tall on my knees, placed my hands on the wall and s-l-o-w-l-y lowered my head down to touch the wall. Then I looked up at Mama. She was laughing but said that yes, that was being gentle with my head. I do this every time I bump my head.

A week ago when we were in the car headed to Disney, Mama asked me where Starbuck the doggie was. I furrowed my brow and before I knew it I had the answer. I promptly waved my hand bye-bye to Mama.

The other day I was grabbing at Mama's neck for her necklace that is almost always there. When I was littler I thought it was a handle just for me and would hold onto it while we walked around. Well, the other day it wasn't there. "Where is Mama's necklace?" Mama asked me. She expected I'd shrug my little arms, palms facing up as I usually do when questioning where something is. But I knew better. I pointed over to the end table where Mama had left her necklace when she'd taken it off. Of course I don't point yet with one finger. I still use the entire hand.

Today I was trying to say "trees" and lately I have been trying to copy what Mama says. But only 1x and then I leave the word alone. Just sorta trying them on for size I think. Oddly enough, I have not said Mama in several weeks when I was once saying it constantly - much to Mama's chagrin.

I have added a new sign to my repertoire, airplane. I still do "birdy", "more", "milk", and sometimes "doggie", (which by the way I said 2 more times!) Mama is trying to teach me the sign for "please", but I dont' understand why I need to sign "please" when simply signing "more" always gets me what I want. "More" means I want that right? Something is just too complicated for me here... Oh well, and just when I thought I knew everything.

Mama says if I continue to love books as I do now I will learn many many words and be extremely smart. (What does extremely mean?) Well, i do love my books. I spend much of my time pouring thru them. I know which ones I like best and will shove one away and grunt annoyed if it's not the one I want Mama to read. Then I'll sift thru the pile, grab the one I do want and bring it to her. My current favorites are the Corduroy ones, tho I also love Good Night Moon, The Little Red Hen and Gingerbread Baby. Mama reads several to me before bed and naptime and they calm me down so I can sleep. Sometimes I will sit thru 5 or 6 of them. Mama says I have a long attention span. What's attention span? I guess I need to keep on with the books so I can learn these hard words.

Minnie Mouse vs. Tiger

I really loved the way I looked in the Minnie Mouse ears. I giggled and squealed and danced at my reflection in the mirror. But they got old fast. Now the Tiger ones... Ah, they got better by the minute! I became obsessed with Tiger ears! Mama says Grammie would be proud! Posted by Picasa

Greetings From the Magic Kingdom!!

Look everyone! Here we are with Lady and the Tramp and with Mickey and Minnie Mouse! Only it wasn't really them, these critters were made entirely out of flowers.

Saucer Eyes at Disney...

Here I am, amazed by everything. Too much magic for one little one like me to process! Everything was so big and bright and pretty.

Most of these pics of me were taken the second day at Magic Kingdom on the boat ride thru "It's a Small World" I loved all the dancing and singing baby dolls...

Disney!!!!

May 20th and 21st 2006, my first trip to Disney - and both Mama and Dada's first also....

Here we are at Magic Kingdom on Sunday in front of the castle, waiting for the parade to begin.

I loved watching all the characters go by. I was speechless and my eyes were big as saucers. And guess what?! Cinderella blew me a kiss!! Right to me! She must have thought I was really cute! Well, who can blame her...

My First Pancake

Hi All, Mama made me a little vegan pancake 2 weeks ago. It was so nummy with flour freshly ground from oatmeal, rice milk, a little oil and baking powder. I ate it with some smoothie on it instead of syrup. Mmm.....

St Starbuck and other Dogs I Adore

Hi Everyone!

This is the legendary St Starbuck! I know him personally. I should, he's my doggie. Some say he's the stuff legends are made of. But I know better. Believe it or not, it's all true! This doggie does let you climb on him, pull his collar, pat him, yank his ears and more. And on top of that he returns my kisses. We both kinda kiss the same way which is cool. Only his kisses are even more slobbery than mine.

Other doggies I love include Max and Maize, Mama's friend's 2 golden retrievers. They are really silly because they are super fuzzy and I can just sink my hands so deep into their fur - then they kiss me and I laugh ever so hard. Mama says I laughed hysterically at them - more than I have ever laughed before. Then in my glee I popped out several times with "doggie... doggie!!!" Mama says it was a subconscious thing (whatever that means) because I haven't said it since then. It just sorta popped out in my extreme excitement.

So now in addition to Dada, Mama, nummy, I can also say doggie! And I sign milk, birdie, more and sometimes doggie or please. We are still working on airplane and food and nite-nite and tired.

Bye bye!! ~ Helena Grace

Bookworm!

Ah, books, glorious books! How I do love my books - and my baby doll too and Starbuck my doggie, and Mama and Dada and .... Life is good!

Mama says books make me smart. I just like to see all the pictures and critters. Daddy tells me funny things about them such as "Then they hit the pinata and it didn't like to be hit so it cried" or "The dalmation couldn't go in the firehouse - he had to stay outside 'cause he was a dog". Mama just laughs. She makes up more sensible things when the story is too long to read to me. :-)

Mama has begun reading to me before nite-nite time and I like it - it relaxes me and makes me hold still so I get sleepy. Otherwise I am very curious and won't hold still to fall asleep.

Well, like I said, I do love my books. Whenever I get the chance I escape from wherever Mama has me and crawl to a bookshelf (or the doggie). If I'm near the kitchen I look at all Mama's coobooks, if near the bedroom I pull my books off the dollhouse shelf, or if near the LR I go to the shelves in these pictures.

Books are great! Dont' you agree?!

Hi There!

It's me again! I'm sitting in a chair that Great Grandma and Great Pop-Pop bought for my Mama when she was little like me. I think that must have been a very long time ago. But guess what? I turned 10 months old yesterday. Does that mean I will be big like my Mama real soon? Mama says pretty soon I will have a birthday and it will have a doggie theme to it. I can't wait. Then I get to taste a few bites of cake and ice-cream. I hear it's really nummy.

Today I had my first pancake. Mama made it with oat flour that she ground up from oatmeal, some rice milk, a bit of grapeseed oil and some aluminum free baking powder. I had a bit of smoothie with it made from fresh organic peaches, nectarine, kiwi, watermelon and banana. Then I had the rest of my smoothie like syrup on my pancake. Even tho it was really num nummy! (my way of saying yummy) and only about 2 inches in diameter I couldn't finish it. Pancakes and smoothies are filling!

May 3rd: Climbing into Mischief

Hi All! Look what I did! I pulled myself up on furniture for the first time! I have been pulling myself up on Mama for a while, but the couch and other furniture is just so high for me.

This drawer was just my size. I like to open it and pull things out of it and now I found another use for it! By the way, those silly green slipper socks of Mama's (which she says she bought just because they were silly) are one of my favorite things to play with lately. They are so fuzzy! But today I found a shirt of Dada's on top of the dresser and decided that looked like more fun!

Oh, and by the way, I do have two legs, LOL! I just had them spread wide so you can't see the other one. Isn't it funny?!

Off to see what else I can get into. I'll let you know if I find anything good. ~ Helena Grace

My Cousin Jack

Hello!

Here we are, three cousins all together. Jack was so rambunctious and silly. He made me laugh a lot. Mama says he's really good with babies. He has a baby sister who is 9 months older than me. Anyway, he was doing all sorts of goofy things to make me laugh and then when we went to his house he was hiding under the table and even though I knew he was there and would lean over to look for him, he still would make me jump and laugh when he popped out at me.

Love to all my cousins! ~ Helena Grace
